Black Pepper - 3 Gallon Trellised
 Description
Pepper, like salt, because of its preservative qualities, has been at times been worth its weight in gold. White pepper is made from the full ripe berry from which the dark outer shell is buffed before the berry is ground. Black pepper is harvested as under ripe and then sun dried. The family the black pepper comes from generally produces beautiful trailing vines, usually slow growing, that produce tiny flowers followed by red berries that mature black. It is nearly ultra-tropical and requires consistent temperatures above 45F degrees. Black pepper prefers temperatures above 65 degrees. They will flower in the spring and fruit ripen in summer. Excellent for the collector or the tropical spice novice as this is one of the easiest spices to grow.
