Calamondin - 3 Gallon - GRAFTED
 Description
The Calamondin is an upright, medium sized tree that produces quarter-sized, seedy, lime type, bright orange fruit during the months of November through April. The Juicy fruit has tender flesh that is very acidic. The fruit can be eaten fresh (it will make you pucker)or is absolutely wonderful when used in marmalades. Calamondin was originally introduced to Florida in 1899 as an acid orange from Panama by David Fairchild. It had come to Panama from Chile and to Chile from China where it is still used extensively as an ornamental and rootstock for mandarins (tangerines). Native to the Philippines, the Calamondin was named Citrus mitis, but was actually given the name C. madurensis earlier as it was seen growing in Madura, an island near Java, sometime before. The tree is very showy when grown in a container and used as a patio specimen.
